A Full Restart — Devlog #1
This project started as something small and quick – more of an excuse to mask my lack of game dev skills than a real plan, to be honest. But as I kept working on it, things didn’t feel right. The design wasn’t convincing, the gameplay felt off, and the fact that it’s a game based on Teto made me realize I really don’t want it to turn out like the other low-effort stuff I’ve released before.
Somewhere along the way, I grew attached to it. I don’t want to abandon it, but I also don’t want to rush something that feels unworthy of the character it’s inspired by.
So… I’m starting over.
I’m completely rebooting the project to:
Refactor and clean up the entire codebase
Rethink the game’s design from the ground up (even basic stuff like whether the character should be able to run)
Redesign the map for better flow and exploration
Improve the game feel, which was lacking in the original
Spend more time on visuals, even if art isn’t my strongest point
It’s frustrating, honestly. Part of me feels stuck between two bad options: abandoning the game or releasing something I know isn’t good enough. So I’m choosing a third path – rebuilding it into something I can be proud of, even if it takes longer.
Thanks for reading. More updates soon, hopefully with real progress to show.
Note: The only build currently available is an old version made before I decided to restart the project from scratch. It’s rough, unpolished, and definitely not where I want the game to be—but I’m leaving it up for now, just as a point of reference. The real game is coming later.
